Most people would be more than satisfied with the direction of their life if they graduated from Princeton University. After all it is one of the most prestigious schools in the country. But for a young aspiring hockey player named Darroll Powe, nothing compares to his job nowadays. Myself among many others that enjoy his play are glad he chose to play the game he loves. At 5’11″ 212 lbs, a bit below average height for a center, his speed never fails to amaze me. As an undrafted free agent I honestly didn’t expect much production out of him at all, or even to break the roster for the big club. I can’t really call myself a Phantoms fan because i rarely watch games, but I still follow the team. The numbers from Powe weren’t exactly impressive to me, but his heart and speed were.
My hopes for Powe this year is to get the full season in at center and really improve his physical game. I don’t expect him to throw up 15-20 goals a year anytime soon but like Asham he could produce 20-25 points a season and it would be a huge contribution. On a line with Carcillo and Asham as a checking line he could really prove to be a solid 3rd line center for many years to come. I’d also like to think that he is one of the young pieces Holmgren wants to keep but we all know how he like to throw away young prospects. Me and Paul discussed Dainus Zubrus last night and the great play he showed here. Hopefully Powe is a Flyer for years to come. enjoy your night and LETS GO FLYERS!!
