Cote Carnival Interviews – Part 4 of 4
I wanted to get this up here in the afternoon, but I got wrapped up in some other things. So here it is, my second up close encounter (first in interview form) with Daniel Briere… So, how’s the off-season going? It’s been good. Training, getting back in shape, getting back to where I’m supposed to be as a Flyer and looking forward to the upcoming season. I read the interview on PhiladelphiaFlyers.com that you feel strong. You feel good? Yeah, I feel good. I’m ready to go. Like I said, I’m excited about the new season and the new players that [...]
Cote Carnival Interviews – Part 3 of 4
My next interview was the one I was looking forward to the most. Unfortunately, he was on his way out of the Carnival when I got to him so time was not on my side for the 6 questions I had orginally planned. But he did agree to give me a 3 question, quick interview. So here it is, my two minutes and thirty-six seconds with Flyers goaltender, Ray Emery… A lot of the Philly fans really don’t know that much about the KHL. How were you received over there and how did you feel playing in the KHL? It was [...]
Cote Carnival Interviews – Part 2 of 4
It may be a day late, but here it is. My interview with Aaron Asham… To start off, how have you been spending your off-season? I’ve actually been back and forth from Philadelphia and Long Island so I’ve just been working hard and getting ready for the season. Well, obviously we’ve got Pronger here so everyone’s excited, we’re looking at a pretty good season. So I’ve just been training, getting ready for it. That was actually going to be my next question. What do you think of all the new additions to the team for the upcoming season? We’re looking [...]
Cote Carnival Interviews – Part 1 of 4
I put the Dancing Shawny and Riley Cote interviews in the Cote Carnival article because those had to do with the Cote Carnival. Over the course of the week, I’ll be adding the interviews that are about the Flyers. This was my 3rd interview of the day, but I thought it should get precident because of who it was with. Head Coach John Stevens surpised everyone by coming out and spending time with the fans for this worthy cause. Once he was done talking with the Flyers TV crew… He gave me a quick interview… What kind of impact do [...]
Cote Carnival – Part 3 of 3… or is it?
So today was the day. A near 2 hour drive to Cherry Hill, New Jersey and 2 cans of Red Bull later, I arrive at Swanky Bubbles for the 2nd Annual Cote Carnival. I get there at 11am for the noon opening and there’s not much of a line. However, by the time the doors opened at noon, the line had stretched across the parking lot and almost to Evesham Road. Being the fan that I am, the first thing I did was head for the autograph area. You would too if you heard that Jeff Carter, Ray Emery, Aaron [...]
Young Stars: Jeff Carter
First I’d like to start off by apologizing for the drought of posts. With nothing much happening lately and work starting back up again it’s been hard to find the time. Thanks for bearing with me! Now back to the reason you are reading this… In the NHL Entry draft of 2003, the Philadelphia Flyers took two of the best players available in that 1st round. Flyers captain Mike Richards was taken in the 24thspot with the Flyers pick, but another center was take a few picks ahead of him that year. The Flyers acquired the 11thpick from the [...]
Luca’s Philly Farewell Interview
I was thinking last night about trying to get another player interview. While I’m waiting for several Flyers to get back to me on Facebook and the Cote Carnival isn’t until this weekend, I thought I’d try touching base with one of the most cordial, hospitable members of the Philadelphia Flyers that I have had the chance to speak with. One problem, he’s not a Flyer anymore. His name is Luca Sbisa. We all know about losing Luca in the Pronger trade so I’m not going to force everyone to relive it. So I send him a little message, asking if [...]
How Would You Do It?
With the free agent pick-ups, trades and signings over the past couple weeks, I’ve been trying to figure out what I would do with the talent the Flyers have now. Where should Giroux go? Who would I have center the third line? Who will be the elusive seventh defenseman? The goaltending tandem is rather easy, of course: Starter: Ray Emery Back-up: Brian Boucher Third: Johan Backlund This works out unless Emery turns out to be a bust after spending last season in the KHL. I’m sure Emery will be just fine though. Boucher is quality all day. Backlund has impressed me [...]
