Finally, a solid 40 minute effort from the Orange and Black. What’s that you say? A hockey game is 60 minutes? Well, that does not matter when you use the Flyers latest strategy: play a solid first period to take a 2-0 lead. Power nap during the second period and allow the opponent to tie it 2-2. Use your pent up energy in the third period to regain the two goal cushion and stuff any empty netter to seal the deal. Mike Richards and Blair Betts each got a pair of goals, and Simon Gagne added icing to the cake.

Flyers Wake Up, Spank Lightning
Flyers All-Decade Starting 5
Simon Gagne – Keith Primeau – John LeClair
Eric Desjardins – Kim Johnsson
Roman Cechmanek
Other Nominees: Mark Recchi, Mike Richards, Jeff Carter, Jeremy Roenick, Peter Forsberg, Kimmo Timonen, Braydon Coburn, Martin Biron, Joni Pitkanen
Reasoning
Simon Gagne: He’s currently the longest tenured athlete in Philadelphia sports. He’s put up over 100 more points than the next closest player. Statistics aside, he’s been fun to watch. He’s got a ton of speed, a very good shot, and is reliable on defense. His numbers surged with Forsberg for the short team that Foppa was here, but he’s remained a reliable scorer. Gags is a fan favorite [...]
Wake Me Up…When December Ends
“You have no…you have no…marbles! You have no marbles!” – Isuro Tanaka (Major League II)
Flyers lost to the Panthers 4-1 tonight. For the what seems like the millionth time this month, the team played with no spark, no energy, no balls. Not even FOUR FIGHTS could get this group moving. I can’t even complain about bad bounces or wasted opportunities, because there were none. Off the top of my head, the only dangerous looking shot actually ended up in the net. I feel bad for the fans that are stuck watching this group. They booed early, and often; and they [...]

As of now, I know we lost to NJ (booo!) and beat Boston (finally a win!), and are currently losning 2-0 to Pittsburgh. Let’s hope we turn this game around and get something started.
See ya soon!

Punchless Flyers Dropped by Sens
The Flyers offense stayed in the locker room again, wasting an excellent effort by Brian Boucher and the defense. The Ottawa Senators got sticks and skates in the way, and every shot that got through was turned aside by Brian Elliot. The last six game stretch, which includes three shutout losses, is reminiscent of the Flyers-Senators matchup in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals. In that series, which the Flyers lost 4-1, they only managed to score two goals. 2! That series featured three consective 3-0 shutouts by the Senators. This embarrassing stretch of futility needs to end, and it needs to end [...]
Flyer-Sens Preview
I’ll be going to the game, so I’m hoping the Flyers can keep up the effort they showed in their last game. I’m going to be looking to see a few things:
Brian Boucher and how he’ll play knowing he is now the number 1 guy for a few weeks, and possibly beyond.
Richards, Carter, Giroux: All three broke out of a slump, can they keep up the good play.
3rd and 4th line: Responsible play, and maybe chip in a goal or two to keep pressure off of the top guns.
Briere: He played well in the last few games, now lets see [...]
The Flyers broke their scoring slump and losing streak by beating the Islanders 6-2 last night. Mike Richards redirected a slap-pass from Kimmo Timonen on the powerplay, and followed it up by stealing the puck and getting a shorthanded breakaway goal against former Flyer Martin Biron. Jeff Carter made it 3-0 when he ripped a wrister under Biron’s arm. It was a typical soft goal that Flyers fans became used to when Mar-ty was in net here. Carter cashed in again after a wild scramble in front of the net saw the puck land in front of his stick, with him [...]

I’m not sure who is next, but I hope it’s someone who can put some normal lines together and KEEP THEM TOGETHER!!!
