We all remember the Adam Sandler move, “The Waterboy.” If you’ve been living in a hole, here’s a quick synopsis: A waterboy for a small Louisiana college shows some football talent, and becomes a star. Hilarity ensues. Well now it looks like a similar story is about to take shape in Philly. Flyers fans are familiar with Dave Settlemeyer as the team’s equipment manager. He was also one of the equipment guys for the US Olympic team in February. Well, he’s a young guy with some college and minor league experience in net, and now he’s going to get his shot at the pro’s. As ridiculous as it sounds, the Flyers have decided to promote him to backup goaltender as they struggle to cope with injuries. Carter Hutton, the backup for the last game was recently signed from his college team. It was a rash decision, and the team does not want to risk rushing him along too quickly. As much as I don’t like Leighton, I guess we need him back because this is getting out of hand.
