ESPN Radio Interview

So at around 3:30 in the afternoon yesterday I received an e-mail from Cory Giger of ESPN Radio State College/Williamsport, asking if I would do a quick interview on his show. He told me this station was in PenguinsTerritory, and he liked having bloggers on his show from time to time to get a unique perspective on things. So at 5:30 yesterday afternoon, I made my radio debut. I was a little nervous, but at least the subject matter was something I knew pretty well.

During the 7-8 minutes that I was on, we talked about the improbable end to the regular season, the demolition of the Devils, and of course the series against the B’s. Then we got to talking about the current Montreal series. So far, I don’t think anyone could have predicted the Habs to be so scared, and Halak to be so human.  Sue, our Ducks blogger, and Frank, our Panthers blogger, each have a nice take on how bad the Habs have looked so far. So while I picked Flyers in 6, if things keep going as they are going, I might have overshot that by a game or two.

The last question Cory asked me was whether the Flyers will win the Cup. I was a little scared to answer, because I want to make sure we get there before making bold statements that they’ll win it. But my answer was, “Why not?” These playoffs have been pretty crazy already. With all of the upsets and comebacks in these playoffs so far, a Flyers over ‘Hawks/Sharks triumph is not out of reach. The Flyers would be pretty big underdogs, but you never know what some focus and determination can lead to. But we’ll cross that river if/when we get there. For now, Game 3.

Tonight’s game will make or break the Canadiens. If the Flyers win, consider the series over. They will not pull a Boston-like chokejob and lose a 3-0 lead. But if Montrealcuts the led to 2-1, don’t count them out. I think their 21,000+ fans and their “ole’s” will give Montreal a boost. I think they’ll fight back a little harder and will play a bit more physical. Halak will be a bit more motivated and a bit more focused. Will it be enough though? We’ll see tonight.
