The Setting: It’s May 19, 2010. The Flyers hold a 2-0 series lead over Montreal in the East. In the West, Chicago is up 2-0 over San Jose. Both teams are dominating, and don’t look like they can be stopped. So I send the following e-mail to Jeff Bartl, the man behind the great Blackhawks blog:
If the Flyers and ‘Hawksdon’t choke and do meet in the finals, are you interested in a small wager? I think 2-3 cheesesteaks against a small deep dish pizza would be pretty fair.
His response:
Sounds good to me buddy!
I went to Chicago a few years ago, and I tried their amazing deep dish pizza. Sorry Uno’s, but you don’t come close to what they have to offer. I didn’t do much research, so I ate at Giordano’s. I don’t know if that’s the best or not, but it was damn good. I have been craving this concoction ever since. I’m not an expert, so I don’t know what the key ingrediants are, or the secret to what makes it so good. All I know is that I’m really hoping the Flyers can pull this off so I can get some pizza.

[...] How fitting is it that a 21 year old with a mullet scores the game winning goal in overtime to clinch the Stanley Cup? A guy who the Flyers could have had, when we were the worst team in hockey and ended up with the 2nd pick in the draft rather than the 1st. Anyway, congratulations to the Chicago Blackhawks on becoming the 2009-2010 Stanley Cup Champions. Congrats to the city of Chicago, for having their 49 year drought end. And of course, congrats to Jeff Bartl from BlackhawkUp for winning a few cheesesteaks. [...]
