Flyers Lose, Finally Coming Home

Due to other demands, I couldn’t watch Saturday night’s game against the St. Louis Blues.  But I was confident that I’d miss a fairly easy 2 points. Confidence shmonfidence, we blew it in overtime. At least we got a point out of it. My friend, a severely unobjective source, tells me that the refs played a major part in the game. Based on the box score, they were definitely active. The teams combined for 64 PIM’s, although the bright spot is that the Flyers went 9 for 10 on the PK. Richards/Carter didn’t score, their 10 combined shots tells me that they are being aggressive.  Zherdev only had 1 shot, and I want a bit more out of him.  But, it’s still early, we have time to improve. This game is in the past, but in our very near future we have the HOME OPENER!

Of course, before first puck drop, there will be a little ceremony.  Let’s not forget, we are the defending Eastern Conference Champions. Some video clips, a lot of rock, and some player intro’s will get the crowd pumped up. Hopefully the Flyers are ready to go as well.

Tonight, we have the Colorado Avalanche.  So far they’ve beaten Chicago in OT in their only game.  That was a few days ago, so they might still be a bit rusty.  They have a pretty good young team; Milan Hejduk is the only forward over 30, while Adam Foote and Scott Hannan are the only “old” guys on defense.  They’re not particularly huge either, meaning I expect a pretty fast paced game tonight.  The Flyers better have their skating legs right from the start. Like most nights, we’re the more talented team on paper, and we should get the win if we play up to our potential.  Injuries aside, I expect that to be our biggest hurdle this season. However, if last year was any indication, then Lavy will have the boys ready to go.
