Who the hell are the Columbus Blue Jackets? And why are they holding us down to only 1 goal? It looks like the 5-2 win from a few days ago did NOTHING to spur our dormant offense. So we lost 2-1, played well, but couldn’t score, again.
I don’t even know what to say anymore without getting repetitive from day to day. Blah blah blah, no powerplay goals, blah blah blah, a few guys stand out from time to time, blah blah blah, Briere-Hartnell-Leino look better and better. It’s the same damn shit, every freaking game. No one can score on a regular basis on this team except for Briere, and he was kept off the board last night. It’s not for a lack of effort; these guys don’t look lazy. But they don’t look energized either. On one hand, they’ll have a shift where they cycle and press for shots, and then they’ll coast and play defensive for a few minutes. They’re not fun to watch at all. I don’t think we even got a shot in the final 1:40 after pulling the goalie.
After two straight starts by Bobrovsky, it’s been Boucher in net for the last two games. He looked fine, stopped what he could stop and needed to stop, and kept the team in the game. And it’s similar to what he played like last year. It’s like the Phils and Cole Hamels getting no run support. Why won’t they play in front of Boucher, I don’t know. And as much as I hate to admit it, it looks more and more like we’re missing Michael Leighton. For some reason, we played well in front of that bum. We’ve got a month (at least) to wait until he’s ready, and by then it might be too late.
The best thing about hockey is that there’s always another game to look to in the near future. And that near future is tonight, against the Sabres. Aren’t we lucky? We get to try to get out of our funk against Ryan Miller. At least they are also having trouble scoring, so maybe, maaayyyybe, we can pull it out tonight. I’m getting more pessimistic by the game. Ugh, Go Flyers.
