So after getting knocked off our high horse in Montreal, we follow it up with a game against Steven Stamkos and the Tampa Bay Lightning. Sounds scary at first, until I looked into their team a bit more.
Lecavalier is hurt, Gagne is hurt (and didn’t do much when he wasn’t), and this team is barely over .500 in a typically weak Southeast Division. Yeah, we lost to them early in the season. But are we really the same team that we were back then? Hell no. Ever since the loss to Columbus, the real Flyers have emerged. Our D is tighter, offense more fluid, powerplay works a lot better, and goaltending has stabilized. Boucher was in net the last time we played Tampa, and it’s likely that he’ll be the starter tonight. Bobrovsky has played 11 straight and he deserves a bit of a break. The last thing we need is to wear him out during the regular season.
I have a history of hating on Tampa. And I stick by all of that. The Lightning suck, screw all of them. Stamkos is probably the best player in the league right now. Anyone else really scare you? St. Louis is still an overrated midget, and the only other guy with double digit points is Ryan Malone. Ooooh, big freaking deal. Even if the Flyers play exactly like they did two nights ago, they deserve to get the W. Yeah, a few minor tweaks here and there wouldn’t hurt (more pressure on the goalie for one) but we don’t need it beat this team.
I honestly could care less about this game and the next one against Washington. Yeah, I want victories, and something cool might happen to pique my interest. But I’m just looking forward to Monday’s game with Montreal. To quote Mike Richards about PK Subban, “…Uh, I’m not saying I’m going to do it but something might happen to him of he continues to be that cocky.” To put it more bluntly, I want someone, anyone, onthe Flyers to get a clean 1 on 1 fight with him and introduce their fists to his nose, repeatedly.
