BSB Is Back on Black Friday

Sorry for going MIA for a week. Vegas. Let’s just leave it at that. Anyway, a lot has happened to the Flyers since I last bitched about the loss to Tampa.

Unfortunately, that’s the last game I’ve seen, and being stuck at work on Friday means missing the 1:00 matinee with Calgary. Still, a recap of the past 3 games.

First, the Flyers took it to Washington only to blow a 3-1 lead in the last 10 minutes of the third, and head to overtime tied at 4. Boucher finally gave Bobrobvsky a break, and Briere thanked him with the winning goal in the shootout. Finally, a win against a solid opponent.  Although it sucks that we couldn’t pull it off in regulation.

Monday, finally, brought us the rematch with Montreal that we’d been craving for a week. Semi-tough guy Maxim Lapierre chickened out of a fight with Shelley, and gave the Habs a quick 2-0 lead in the first. At this point I’m sure PK Subban was reviewing old Jay Leno tapes to steal some crappy jokes to use on the ice. Too bad for them the the Flyers finally woke up. Leino and Giroux tied the game, and JVRnetted the game winner. Talk about carpe diem; he’s only in the lineup because of Carcillo’s injury. Now he’s scoring game winning goals? Good job. Now go do it again!

And on Thanksgiving Eve, the Flyers easily beat the crap out of Minnesota, 6-1. JVR opened the scoring, doubling his season goal total. The Wild managed just 16 shots against Bob, who was back in net after a 2 game break.

After all of this, the Flyers sit in 1st overall. In the Atlantic. In the East. And in the NHL. With the Flames in town, I’m expecting ESPN updates telling me about another Flyers win.  After today, things get a bit more serious. We sandwich a Bruins game with a pair against the Devils.  I know they suck this year, but for some reason I don’t think it will be that easy for us. anyway, I plan to re-establish my fanhood tomorrow and get back to watching games.

I hope you’re all stuffed from yesterday. And anyone that got up early to score some deals on Black Friday, I hope it was worth it.
