Buffalo is a small town,in upstate New York, bordering Canada. We can thank them for inventing wings, giving us a nice view of Niagara Falls, and Patrick Kane’s insane mullet. Like many small towns, I’d expect the people to be nice, friendly, and to support their team wholeheartedly. Last night, their Sabres were undeserving of the 5-2 beating that the Flyers laid on them. Not that I didn’t enjoy it.
Briere is having an awesome season so far. He leads the team in goals, and is 6th in the league. Yet, the NHL decides to leave him off the all-star roster. They can’t feed us the bullshit excuse that they tried getting someone from every team. There are 4 teams without any all-stars: Islanders, Sabres, Panthers, Coyotes. My biggest beef is Patrick Elias. He’s on a last place team, has 9 goals, is a -11 AND IS NOT A POPULAR PLAYER! The whole point of the all-star game is to show off popular, exciting players! Sure, he’s had a good career and is a talented player. But the last time he was really relevant was before the lockout. Danny Briere deserves to go much, much more than this bum!
So, after news came out, Danny said all the right things. He denied that he’s going to use that as motivation, and said, “It’s out of my control. There’s not much I can do about it.” Hartnell probably said what everyone thinks though. “Danny B’shaving a heck of a season and it gives him motivation to shove it up whoever didn’t pick him.” You’re damn right he’s going to use this as motivation. Last night he tied the game up after we spotted Buffalo a quick 2-0 lead, and dished out 3 assists as well.
The Flyers woke up after falling behind, and there was nothing the Sabres could do to stop it. The Flyers played more intense, they pushed harder, and they shut things down on D. I know the gave up 40 shots, but not too many were very scary after the 10:00 mark of the first period. Sabres fans: don’t be mad at your team for collapsing. It’s not just that the Flyers are an elite team, it’s that the NHL made a mistake, and everyone else is going to pay for it.
