And We're Back

Finally, the Flyers are back from their break tonight to take on the Carolina Hurricanes tonight.  It feels like forever ago that we stifled Dallas en route to a 3-1win. As long as we don’t play like a bunch of rusty nails, we should look to throttle the ‘Canes.

As it goes with almost everyone we play, we’re better on paper and will get the win if we play up to our potential. However, this is the time of year when things just get that much harder. Carolina is fighting for a playoff spot.  They’re not going to lay down and give us an easy win. The Flyers have been saying all the right things to the media.

They’ve talked about getting their motivation from playing for a #1 seed.  They talked about how the cushion they had has virtually disappeared while they’ve been sitting and everyone has been playing. Now they want to pull away and set themselves up for another good playoff run.  Well, that’s nice and all, but they’ve got to go out and show it. For most of the season, they have. But they’ve looked shitty coming off breaks. Let’s try to change that this time around.

It’s been a while since I said it, but once again the team must rely on Mike Richards.  He’s sort of blended in with everyone else because we have such a balanced attack.  Still, this is the exact type of situation that he must showcase himself in.  He needs to step it up, throw a few hits, and lead the way. He’s got to make sure everyone knows we’re back in action, and there’s no more time to rest. So if he comes out, guns blazing, then I’m not going to be worried about this game at all.
