Hottest team in the league? (Courtesy:sportsillustrated.cnn.com)

This Ain't No Stinkin' Desert, Dawg!

Seven wins in a row? Get out of here with that stuff. You come into our house, you should get your behind kicked!

Last year, Phoenix came out of nowhere to grab a playoff spot, thanks to like 1,000 shootout wins.  They don’t score much, and rely completely on Ilya Bryzgalov in net. During their 7 game win streak, they’ve cracked 3 goals just once. They’re just not much of an offensive threat at all. But that works out pretty damn well for us.

They’ve never seen Peter Laviolette’s Flyers before.  They last faced us when John Stevens was still around. They want to sit back, waiting for their chance to strike? We can play that game pretty damn well.  We just did it to Tampa, and we can do it again.  This Phoenix team took it to Detroit last year in the playoffs, but couldn’t overcome their talent. Things should go that way tonight.

This is a solid team we’re facing, one that thrives because of a system. That’s why I expect the Flyers to be ready to play tonight. They’re a pretty good road team, but we’re also one of the top hoem teams. Honestly, I don’t care how good their system is. I just can’t see us blowing a game to a team whose leading goal scorer is Scotty Upshall. We love the kid, but if he’s your biggest threat, something isn’t right. Like us, they rely on a balanced attack. Each of their lines is capable of doing the same damage on offense.  They will try to crack through early, and sit on it.

Barring a fluke early goal or two against, that won’t faze us.  Our depth is far superior, our offense is far more dynamic, and we can roll 3 awesome d-pairs. I don’t think we’ll necessarily kill this team.  They know what it takes to beat good teams and keep the puck out of the net.  But I do expect a W tonight.
