Major Bummer

The Flyers, our favorite bums. Our bums played good defense, not allowing any sustained attacks in our end. Our bum in net played awesome; can’t get mad at one goal against. Our bums on offense forechecked – lot’s of takeaways in the offensive zone. Our entire group of bums attacked – 35 shots. Still, our bums could not score, the Sabres bums did, and we lost.

I’m not mad or alarmed after this game at all. I think we finally saw a complete effort out of the Flyers. Not everything was perfect, but the effort was there. The most glaring flaw seems to be the lack of traffic in front. We challenged Ryan Miller with a lot of shots, but he had a decent view of almost all of them. The powerplay let us down, as it has most of the season. Again, not enough traffic in front. If we have to plant two guys in the crease, then do it. We need to make this harder for him.

Not all of the 35 shots he stopped were easy, but Miller wasn’t anything ridiculous last night. JVR did beat him early, but unfortunately rubber met iron, and ricocheted harmlessly away. And while he did look better than Bobrovsky, it’s mostly thanks to the Flyers’ defense that Bob didn’t have to be great. Our defense was fairly airtight yesterday, not allowing much of anything in their end. If we have this kind of defensive effort every night, I’ll be more than happy.
