It's Only Just Begun...

Game 1 was not the start we were looking for. The goalies looked bad. The defense looked bad.  Everything sucked. But after everything, it’s only one game.

We know our Flyers have been through a lot together. As fans, we’ve been on the roller coaster ride with them. We know what they are capable of doing when they are on their game. Maybe Boston will win this series and exorcise their demons. But nothing has been decided yet. It’s one game. Regardless if the score is 1-0, 7-3, or 100-99, it’s still one game. They need three more. And very few people seriously predicted this series to be over in 4-5 games, regardless of which team they picked.

So tonight, it’s a chance for us to knot things up. We know Lavy watched some tape, reviewed what went wrong, and figured out Boston’s strategy. Or maybe they take the other route, and forget this game completely. There was so much done wrong, so little emotion, that maybe it’s best to just move on and get ready for tonight. Whatever the case, they have to be ready.  They’ve all said how embarrassed they felt after the game. Really, that’s all they need to remember going into tonight. With the right effort, everything else will fall into place. They’ll win the puck battles, they’ll create chances, and they’ll limit opportunities against them.

And there always this: Game 1 was a day game. When do the Flyers ever play well in day games? We usually suck at those. We were only 6-6 during day games in the regular season, including that 7-0 blowout loss to the Rangers. The next 3 games are all at night, so we can have a drink (or 2, or 5, or…) without AA in the back of our minds.
