Actions Louder Than Words

Here’s a clip from TSN of an interview with Mike Richards discussing the Dry Island info. that leaked out a few days ago.

He said, she said: Mike Richards and Jeff Carter party to much. That’s why they got traded?
Mike Richards responds: No, I don’t party too much. That’s blown way out of proportion.

My conclusion: WHO CARES WHAT THEY DO OFF THE ICE AS LONG AS THEY PERFORM. Put all this stupid Dry Island stuff to bed, it’s meaningless. Who cares who was or wasn’t on the list. It’s not our business. And this list does not determine whether or not a guy stays on the team. This is all nonsense; just stupid talking that proves nothing and gets us nowhere.

Both guys came to play. That’s what matters. We buy tickets and jereys and other merchandise because of what we see them do on a 200×85 sheet of ice. All of the crap that happens away from the rink is crap fed to us by the media to sway our feelings one way or the other about players.  Why do we care about any of that? Leave the gossip and the personal stuff outside of sports.  All I care about is a player trying his hardest to help this team win. I completely support Mike Richards and Jeff Carter, regardless of whether or not they partied hard. They showed up to work, and that’s what I care about.
