Every day this month, one NHL team will be posting a season preview. It’s a good way for you, the Flyers fans, to know what we’re up against this season as we hope to break the Stanley Cup drought. Today we have the Detroit Red Wings.
They say defense wins championships.
They say your last line of defense is your goaltender.
So I guess it should come as no surprise that the Red Wings are building from the backend out…
Earlier this summer long time Red Wings net minder Chris Osgood made his retirement from the NHL official. After injury set backs and a young Jimmy Howard pushing and keeping that number one spot in the Red Wings crease it was time. Osgood may not be throwing on his number 30 but he is still taking to the ice as an assistant goaltending coach. Osgood will be working with the goaltenders in the Red Wings farm system in Grand Rapids with the Griffins (AHL) and in Toledo with the Walleye (ECHL).

Coming up a little later, the Edmonton Oilers. We’ve already previewed the Anaheim Ducks, Boston Bruins, Buffalo Sabres, Calgary Flames, Carolina Hurricanes, Chicago Blackhawks, Colorado Avalanche, Columbus Blue Jackets, Florida Panthers, and Dallas Stars.
