Flyers Smoked By Canadiens

What in the hell was that? For whatever reason, I didn’t expect us to blow the Habs out. I was thinking it would be a tight, one goal victory. And after the first period, that’s kind of how things looked. All of a sudden, the Flyers just simply stopped. And if anyone thinks of blaming Bryzy for this one, you need to learn to look past the stats and actually follow the damn play.

So much went wrong, and there is plenty of blame to go around. They turned pucks over in their own zone. They didn’t protect the crease. They left their goalie hanging out to dry on numerous occasions. On top of that, they failed to capitalize on a ton of chances. It’s not like Montreal shut us down. Carey Price is a very good goalie, and he played like it. But he’s been weak to start of this season, and we made him into Superman.

Simmonds was set up beautifully by Giroux with a completely empty net, and he pushed it wide. JVR had a breakaway and didn’t do much with it. There were other scrambles that yielded nothing. But when Montreal found pucks that bounced their way, they were quick to snap it into the back of the net. Hell, they crashed the net hard and found little resistance.

I said right before the season started that we should give it a few games before we start to critically analyze this team. After tonight’s game against the Winnipeg Jets, we will have played 10 games. That 12.195% of the regular season. Regardless of it being early, it’s more than enough of a sample size to start getting a picture of this teams strengths and weaknesses. After tonight, it will be time to go start blasting holding people a lot more accountable when they screw up. But let’s give it one more game.
