Winter Classic Jerseys
Over the last few months there have been all sorts of leaks and myths regarding possible jersey the Flyers might be wearing on January 2nd. I didn’t bother linking or mentioning it because I don’t feel like being part of the rumor mill. Once something is legit, that’s when I want to pass it along.  Finally, it seems we have something solid. Here’s the article and the pic thanks to Puck Daddy:

It looks pretty cool. I’m not big on the laces, but everything else is fine.  I’m not that picky with our jerseys. I like that they jersey’s feature a ton of orange. I’m hoping the New York Rangers have a lot of blue than white in theirs. Last time we were featured in the outdoor game, the special jerseys became our regular jerseys the next season.  Before that was announced, I remember seeing the WC jerseys on sale for ridiculously low prices. I didn’t buy one because I didn’t one a jersey that was relevant for one game. Now that there is a possibility of this happening again, I’m looking forward to getting a jersey on the cheap in the months after the 2012 game. If I turn out wrong, then so be it. I can’t wear my Lindros or Richards jerseys forever, can I?

Other Thoughts

  • Anybody excited for Sundays game against the Florida Panthers? They haven’t been relevant since Scott Mellanby killed a rat in their locker room. And this season it seemed like they were signing overpriced free agents just to get above the salary cap floor. However, they sit atop their division, and seem to be doing it with offense. They are only 3-3 in their last 6, but all 3 losses came in a shootout.  All of tells me that this game will not be a cakewalk.
  • The 1-3-1 stalemate issues probably won’t go away. I think the league might have to deal with it somehow. The Flyers were unhappy with it after the game, and kept talking the next day. And I saw on Twitter that the NHL’s COO John Collins received some negative feedback during the game from some powerful people (probably advertisers). The sooner this goes away, the better. I really hope more teams start doing the same thing to send a message to Guy Boucher.
  • I don’t like this lag between games.  1 game in 7 days sucks. Luckily we get a ton of hockey over the next few weeks and don’t have another break until the end of the month.
  • The Islanders are struggling, but everyone else in the division is keeping things tight. I won’t be shocked if it stays like that all year with no clear cut winner until the last few days of the season.
