Looking Ahead To A Vital Stretch Of Games

Right now this Flyers team cannot catch a break. Even though they are currently tied for second in the Atlantic and sixth in the East, this next stretch of games is going to be crucial to building momentum to the Winter Classic and beyond. Remember they are going to have to do this without Chris Pronger, possibly James van Reimsdyk for a little bit and with Ilya Bryzgalov going along with his up and down ways. Let’s take a look at the key eight games ahead:

12/2 @ Anaheim

This is the perfect trap game for the Flyers to start off this road trip in a bad way. The only positive of flying all the way across the country is that the NHL separated the Rangers game and this game six days apart, giving Philadelphia plenty of time to get ready. This is a Ducks team that is 1-8-1 in their last ten and has severely struggled this season to a point where there are rumors of trading Bobby Ryan. This game has let down written all over it, so I’m going to say they lose this game.

12/3 @ Phoenix

In a rematch of what was a great early season game, the Coyotes faithful will welcome Ilya Bryzgalov back to the Jobing.com arena. This is a Phoenix team that has been on a roll, including a 4-1 win over the Chicago Blackhawks on the road. This is going to be a very tough but even game that I think the Flyers will lose in overtime.

12/7 @ Buffalo

The Sabers have to have this game circled on their calendar as the Flyers have continued to be a thorn in their side. They weren’t able to extract revenge on Philadelphia back on November 2nd and they won’t be able to in this one either. The Flyers always play the Sabers well and especially in their building. This game will be the best one that the Flyers play in this stretch as they win easily.
