After beginning their off-season in less than ideal fashion, the Philadelphia Flyers and their fans have something to look forward to.
The team and winger Jakub Voracek agreed to a 4-year deal worth $17 million. Paul Holmgren stated numerous times that the Flyers would be re-signing the Czech.
Finally that time has come.
So, now that Voracek is locked up, how important is he to the Flyers success?
Jakub Voracek has such a promising future. He is just 22 years old and has a tremendous skill set. Jake has great hands, exceptional speed, and is one of the best passers on the team. He scored a career high 18 goals last season. If he stays healthy, he can definitely eclipse that total, especially if thrown on the first line with Giroux and Hartnell.
My fellow staff writer Jake Pavorsky brought up a good point during last night’s podcast. During the series against Pittsburgh, Voracek and Giroux built chemistry and really played well together. If Voracek gets put on the top line, they will get the entire season to build even more chemistry.
This upcoming season, especially after losing Jaromir Jagr and James van Riemsdyk, I believe Jakub Voracek will be crucial to the Flyers success. He is a guy capable of scoring 60+ points and can set up other players.
Although trade rumors surround him, I would prefer to see Jakub Voracek remain in the Orange and Black.
