On Thursday, Philadelphia Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren told the Philadelphia Inquirer that an extension with head coach Peter Laviolette will be completed within the week.
The Flyers have had back-to-back 47-win seasons under Laviolette. In three seasons as the Flyers coach, he maintains a record of 122-73-26.
Laviolette has a Stanley Cup Playoffs record of 23-22, including one trip to the Stanley Cup Finals, where the Flyers lost to the Chicago Blackhawks.
Peter Laviolette is one of the most passionate coaches in the entire NHL. That was very evident this past postseason during the Pittsburgh series, where he attempted to go after the Penguins bench after a hit on Danny Briere. Laviolette was fined $10,000 for his actions.
Flyers fans are ecstatic to have this guy leading the Orange and Black for a long time.
