It’s been a tough off season to be a Philadelphia Flyers fan for several reasons:
- Not getting Shea Weber (or Zach Parise or Ryan Suter)
- Meszaros injured
- Lilja injured
- Nick Cousins charged with sexual assualt
That last one has be the worst news so far. Great, thanks for giving us even a bad name Cousins. If you read my post on that particular incident, you’ll know how I feel about him and Harry Z.
So even though things haven’t been looking good, we are Flyers fans and we are faithful and hopeful to the very last. The team still has a good offensive line, especially the top line which will mostly change to Giroux-Hartnell-Voracek. It’s the defense that has everyone worried. Of and there’s one more thing that fans have been worried about. What was it again?
Oh yes, the potential lockout. I haven’t really been blogging on the lockout because honestly it just makes me depressed. Like serious another lockout? If it does happen it will be the 3rd lockout since Gary Bettman has been the Commissioner and he already has the votes from the board of governs to put through a stoppage of labor if need be. Seriously why is he still the commissioner?
The biggest issue is that why are the players being threatened with a huge salary and revenue sharing cut when Bettman’s salary has increased since the last lockout? Something is not adding up here. There have been a lot of negotiations back and forth, but as of right now the owners and the player’s association are at a standstill.
Or they were for about a week, which is not good since September 15th is fast approaching us. The two parties met today to resume talks in hopes to finally come to some sort of agreement. Big surprise, they haven’t met an agreement yet and are resuming talks tonight. The problem is that for hockey to start on time we need to see this come to an end since the current CBA ends on September 15th.
Mark your calenders, because that is when the end of the world is, well at least for all the hockey fans. I might go stalk the local ice rinks if I can’t watch hockey come October.
