So it’s mid-October and we still aren’t watching any regular season hockey and it sucks. We keep on hearing about new meetings and talks between the owners and NHLPA still on going, but honestly if they aren’t coming to an agreement no one really cares. What fans really care about is the NHL coming back and watching their favorite team playing again. This lockout has just been bad not only on the fans but on the league itself, because they are actually losing more money by locking out these players and it doesn’t look like they will come to an agreement anytime soon.
So what’s a suffering fan to do? Cry, cry into your beer and then watch other sports. But if football doesn’t do it for you and you don’t care about playoff baseball because your team is out of the picture, then what can you do? The most obvious answer is to turn to AHL hockey.
So how about those Phantoms? Pre-season AHL hockey is now over and the season opener has already past. So far the Phantoms have played two regular season games this past weekend. Right now there record is 1-1-0 and they have two points which put them as the third seed in the northeast division. So pretty good so far, but there is always room to improve. It should be interesting to see how the rookie Flyers play on the team. Hopefully it will get their legs to continue moving and help them to remain in good condition, when (or if) the Flyers head back on the ice this season.
So how are you coping with the lockout? Leave a comment below and let us know.
