Happy Halloween readers! Do you know what the scariest part of this spooky holiday is? The fact that the NHL is still in a lockout and us Flyers fans cannot watch our team in the black and orange. But in lieu of watching and talking about the Flyers let’s discuss what the Phantoms have been up to this past weekend.

The Phantoms dropped down to the 4th seed this weekend with two consecutive losses and one victory. On Friday they took on the Albany River Rats and lost horrendously with a score of 1-5. Known enforcer Zac Rinaldo again proved his ability to mature as a player by making big hits and scored the only Phantoms goal in the game.

On Saturday the Phantoms tried to redeem themselves when they played a home game against the Rochester Americans. Unfortunately for the hometown team they again lost, this time with a score of 2-6. The game was rough for both teams as they collectively logged 94 penalty minutes. The Phantoms two goals were scored by Mike Testwuide and Harry Zolnierczyk.

Relief finally came for the Phantoms on Sunday when they were able to win in overtime against the the Syracuse Crush. They won 4-3 to help their record after losing two consecutive games. The Phantoms got some goals in the net early in the game but Syracuse was outdoing them.

As they went into the third period the Phantoms trailed by one but where able to bring it back late in the game. Sean Couturier no stranger to scoring tied the game 3-3 at the end of the 3rd period forcing an overtime period. During that overtime period teammate Brandon Manning (a Flyers prospect to really keep an eye out for) scored the game winning goal.

It’s still early in the season and the Phantoms have a lot of work to do if they want to hoist the Calder Cup later this year.
