The Phantoms played the Providence Bruins last night and were led to a 4-2 defeat. The loss ended the Phantoms 3 game winning streak and drops them down a spot in the standings yet again.
The Bruins got on the board first having the lone goal in the first period to earn the early lead.
In the beginning of the second there was a fight between Phantoms’ FitzGerald and Bruins’ Robins, but this didn’t stop the Bruins from scoring a few minutes later to increase their lead 2-0.
Schenn scored the first goal for the Phantoms in the middle of the second period assisted by Dinman, but the Bruins scored seconds later to keep their lead.
In the middle of the last period Wellwood scored a second goal on the power play to try to bring the Phantoms back. It didn’t work as the Phantoms could not get anymore pucks past Svedberg. Bourque scored an empty netter with seconds left in the game which really sealed the Bruins win.
The Phantoms face off against the Portland Pirates Saturday at 7:00 pm.
