Phantoms fall to Pirates

The Phantoms played the Portland Pirates on friday and were led to another loss, as they were defeated 2-1.

The first period went scoreless, but the Pirates got the early lead in the second period with a power play goal by Brandon Gormley. They increased their lead again on the power play late in the period with a goal from Michael Stone.

The Phantoms had a hard time getting on the board, but finally did with a goal by Jason Akeson late in the final period. The goal was on the power play and was assisted by Brayden Schenn and Danny Syvret.

Although the Phantoms were on their way to a recovery, with three minutes left in the game they were unable to tie it up and force an overtime period. The Pirates won the game 2-1.
