"C" for Claude

The NHL is close to finally signing in the new CBA, which means that the Flyers are soon to be back. This is exciting for fans, but we also have to wonder who will lead our team.

Pronger is technically still the captain, but his career is pretty much over so someone needs to become the new leader. Really this is about the person who has already shown leadership and who is the obvious choice. And who is that?

Claude Giroux.

Giroux came out on top this season with a 30 goal season. He became even more of a fan favorite by decking and feuding with Sidney Crosby. Who in philly doesn’t hate that guy? He also won the cover vote for NHL 13, so this year was supposed to be his year. Unfortunately the lockout got in the way.

Giroux has been asked about if he thinks he’ll be named captain and he shyed away from the question. He is the perfect choice and if you listened to some of the broad street buzz podcasts you would have heard my insistence that the next team captain should be “Claude Giroux, Claude Giroux, Claude Giroux.”

The new captain will probably be announced when the season officially starts. I’d be really surprised if it’s not G.
