Phantoms seek revenge on Devils

We have a lot of updating to do for you Phantoms fans. So here goes the first Phantoms update.

Last Sunday the Phantoms sought revenege on the Albany Devils, after facing a loss to the team the previous Friday. The Phantoms fought for the win, but they eventually came out on top with a 3-2 shootout win. Too bad the Devils got a point for going to overtime, but it was a victory for the Phantoms none the less.

The first period started off slow but the Phantoms took advantage of a late power play when Jason Akeson scored the first goal of the game.

Although the Phantoms got the 1-0 lead going into the second, the Devils tied it up quickly in the second with a goal from Phil DeSimone.

In the final period, the Phantoms broke the tie with a second goal from Marcel Noebels. The Devils were right behind them to tie the game again when Jay Leach scored.

The rest of the period went scoreless and led to a first overtime period which also went scoreless. That led the game to a overtime shootout round. Jason Akeson, Danny Syrvet, and Tye McGinn scored in the shootout for the Phantoms. Matt Anderson was the only devil to score on Phantoms’ goalie Cal Heeter.
