Phantoms fall to Sharks

After a successful win against the Albany Devils, the Adirondack Phantoms lost in a close game against the Worcester Sharks.  The Sharks beat them 3-2.

Phantoms Jon Sim got them on the board first while on the power play early in the first period, and the Phantoms looked like they were going to lead in the first.

While on the power play, the Sharks crushed this feeling as Jon Matsumoto scored with only a few minutes left in the first period. The Sharks even broke the tie before the period ended with another goal from John McCarthy.

The Phantoms Garrett Roe tied the game again half way into the second period. It was the only goal of the period, but there was also a fight between Cullen Eddy and Bracken Kearns.

The Phantoms fought to control the tie and had the opportunity to force the game into an overtime, if only it wasn’t for those pesky sharks getting one last goal in by Freddie Hamilton to seal the Sharks 3-2 win over the Phantoms

There wasn’t too many penalties in this game, the Phantoms who are notorious for taking too many actually held on by only taking nine over the Sharks 15 PIMS. So clearly that wasn’t the problem in this game. It’s clear that like their NHL affiliate  the Philadelphia Flyers, the Phantoms  have a severe defense problem. Both teams need to fix this.  Immediately.
