The Adirondack Phantoms took on the Hershey Bears last Sunday, and it was pretty much no contest. The Bears crushed them, as they typically do, 5-2.
Penalty minutes were a non-issue in this game. Not because the Phantoms were being disciplined but because both teams logged an equal 12 PIMS. That’s an average amount, so clearly discipline wasn’t the reason for the Phantoms loss. No the Phantoms loss, because they can’t score.
The Bears pretty much dominated the entire game. They got it started in the first period and then continued with two more goals in the second period. Followed by a fourth goal in the beginning of the final period.
The Phantoms finally got a goal in the third period but it was too late. Especially when the Bears scored again to increase their lead. The Phantoms did get one more goal, but it didn’t really matter because the Bears still crushed them 5-2.
The Phantoms just have no chance this season, and the majority of their problems are also the same problems that their NHL affiliate faces. No defense and poor goaltending.
