Philadelphia Flyers Possibly Trade Partners With Anaheim

TSN writer Darren Dreger is reporting that the Anaheim Ducks are looking to add a defenseman to their squad, reporting that the Flyers, Toronto and Pittsburgh are all options. Anaheim would be willing to give up a young forward in exchange. Thankfully, most of the forwards on the Ducks could easily be considered “young” so the options are wide open to the team that looks to deal with them.

Andrej Meszaros is a name that constantly keeps coming up in these trade rumors for the Flyers. Meszaros played well in his first game of the season which bodes will for his trade value when discussing him with other teams. Meszaros isn’t necessarily a bad defenseman; he’s just overpaid for what he is. The Flyers have plenty of talent in their farm system on the defensive side of the ice that could possibly be NHL ready (and more importantly, cap friendly).

Should the trade happen, we would likely see Erik Gustafsson come up and take his spot. Hal Gill could also be slotted into the lineup if the Flyers decide that Gustafsson isn’t ready to take a full time role. Unfortunately for the team, they will have to keep playing Meszaros to show teams that he is capable and ready to take on a large role on his new squad should he get traded.

Anyone on the Ducks roster interest you? Let us know in the comments who you’d be willing to give up Meszaros for.
