Craig Berube is the new head coach of the Philadelphia Flyers, replacing Peter Laviolette.
This is exactly the move the Flyers need right now. They have no shortage of talent on their roster, they have all the pieces they need to be a good hockey team, they just haven’t been playing with any fire. Laviolette seemed incapable of waking the sleeping giants dozing in his locker room, but maybe his dismissal might serve as an effective wake up call to the boys. It remains to be seen if Berube will serve as merely an interim coach, or if this is truly his team to lead. In either case it will be very interesting to see what “Chief” does with this winless team.
If you are unfamiliar with Craig Berube from his brutal playing days it may perhaps be worth your while to peruse his greatest hits over at hockeyfights.com.
Call it a guess, but I suspect the Flyers will be playing with some heart tomorrow night at the Wells Fargo Center.
