Dmitry Orlov is already in Washington Capitals head coach Adam Oates‘ doghouse for his vicious hit on Brayden Schenn Sunday afternoon. Even though he scored twice, Orlov was still the goat as that hit led to a five minute major penalty for boarding, leading to the Flyers coming from a 4-2 deficit to a 5-4 overtime win. Quite lovely, if I say so myself.
But the icing on the cake was just announced Monday afternoon, as the Shanaban came down on Orlov…lightly. The Department of Player Safety has supsended Dmitry Orlov for two games for his hit on Schenn. This includes the second leg of a home and home between the Flyers and Caps at the Wells Fargo Center Wednesday night.
According to NHL.com, “under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and based on his average annual salary, Orlov will forfeit $7,076.92. The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.”
Orlov has three goals in 36 games played, with all three of those goals coming against the Flyers.
