After the final horn sounded on the Philadelphia Flyers and Los Angeles Kings, I was too heated to write a recap.
It was not so much the loss. I knew the Flyers were due for a clunker, and, hey, five out of six against the NHL’s best is not anything to brush off.
What bothered me was how the Kings just suffocated the Flyers with their forecheck and defensive play. It was not much of a game for the first two periods and despite the Flyers’ third-period comebacks, they know they cannot play a sluggish 40 minutes against one of the best teams in hockey.
I want to revisit the first and third goals for the Kings because I saw a familiar pattern.
