Good afternoon Philadelphia Flyers fans! Only 76 days until the season begins, and those days cannot go by fast enough. For now, take a look at the latest stories from around the league:
In this video, fans get an inside look at what happened at a Flyers town hall meeting. Craig Berube, Paul Holmgren, Ron Hextall, Shawn Tilger, and Chris Pryor answered fan questions about everything Flyers related. The Flyers have hosted this meeting for season ticket holders for years. It allows the fans to talk directly to those in charge of their beloved Flyers. Three of the five speakers at the town hall meeting were promoted to new positions since the last town hall meeting.
It has been 15 years since Gene Hart passed away. Bill Meltzer breaks down what Hart meant to the city, and to him personally. The Flyers press box is named after Hart.
During Hart’s tenure as play-by-play man, he became a beloved figure in the city. He was an always will be “the voice of the Flyers” for countless fans. He was the Harry Kalas of the Flyers. Hart’s legacy continues today through his daughter Lauren, but to the older generations of fans, Hart was their first teacher of hockey.
Our own Tom Foti takes a look at Jakub Voracek and Ryan O’Reilly. If Voracek can continue to perform at a high level next season, there is no reason to believe he will not earn a raise. Players of Voracek and O’Reilly’s stature rarely make under $6 million.
The New York Islanders were able to avoid arbitration by signing Kevin Poulin to a one year, two way contract. Poulin is a 24 year old goalie who has appeared in 49 NHL games.
