The Philadelphia Flyers have not drafted a player who turned into a superstar rookie in a very long time. This is mostly because it is very difficult for a young player to be dominant in their first year unless they’re one of those generational talents who makes the roster immediately.

Now that the draft is over, all eyes have turned onto the prospects who are now in development camp. There is a lot of promise within the Flyers’ farm system, especially on defense. Top prospects like recently drafted Ivan Provorov and 2013 1st rounder Samuel Morin hope to make the NHL roster this year, while Morin will still turn professional if not since he will be AHL eligible. If they do make the team, will they have immediate positive impacts? To be seen.

Historically, the Flyers have not had many great rookies that put up big numbers right away. They definitely have not had a defenseman that has done it in any remarkable way, and not many forwards have done it either as you will see. This only means one thing- they’re overdue.

Let’s look at the top performances historically by rookies on the Flyers.
