Fantasy Hockey Spotlight: Final Recap

Fantasy hockey owners! As of today (Wednesday) we are only one short day away from the regular season kicking off.

Over the past several weeks, we have been covering things such as: fantasy hockey strategies, home and away game beasts, transactions, top goalies, etc.

With the season just about underway, and most fantasy hockey leagues in post draft mode, it is time to wrap everything up. We’ll go from oldest to most recent.

(1) New Faces in New Places

There were a lot of offseason moves this summer. Some more interesting than others. If you are an avid hockey fan, or have been playing fantasy hockey for some time, you probably understand the importance switching teams. Catch up on some last minute addition possibilities.

(2) Sleeper Picks

Just because your draft is already complete doesn’t mean you should skip over this. Due to the fact that this article of about sleeper picks, there are probably some, if not all, of these players still available in your fantasy hockey league. Made a mistake during your draft? Swoop up one of these sleepers.

(3) Top Goalies Heading into 2015

One may think that goalies are not important for fantasy hockey success. However, that is false in most cases. The only way one would not care for a goaltender would be if either their league gives minimal points for goalies, or simply ignores the position. Top five goalies for 2015 are stated in the link above.

(4) Top 5 Defensemen for 2015

Defense wins championships. This goes for fantasy hockey as well. The key thing to note here is that this list is not the top five offensive defensemen. It is the D that have the most balanced overall stats for head-to-head leagues.

(5) Drafting Strategies

It is currently October 5th, meaning that most leagues are setting their lineups. If you have yet to draft, whether it be a rotisserie, point-based, or head-to-head league, there are helpful tips for all draft types.

(6) Philadelphia Flyers

Pretty self explanatory. The Flyers have some great players on their roster. In fact, there are many you should target in fantasy hockey drafts or as waiver wire additions. Note, there are also “avoid” players to be aware of too.

(7) The Rookies

The rookie pool is quite talented this year. Looking at Yahoo’s average draft positions, you will notice some of these rookies are being drafted too early. Here is where to take them in drafts, their potential, and additions.

(8) ADP and Average Rounds

Just because you drafted a great team on paper, does not mean you have a trophy in the case. Take a look at where players are being targeted in fantasy hockey drafts, and when you should head to the waiver wire for additions.

(9) Away Game Elites

Every team needs consistent players. In order to do so, your team needs to have skaters who can score both home and away.

(11) Multi-Point Games

Consistency is great, but having players that can score multiple points per night will be the difference down the stretch of the NHL season. Whether you’re in a head-to-head league or a point-based league, these top multi-point players are a must look when drafting, trading, or searching the waiver wire.

(12) Transaction Trends

Here we look at Yahoo’s transaction trends for fantasy hockey players. This is a great resource when looking for hot players, cold players, and who is being dealt the most. Within this article many sleepers are uncovered. Be the best in your league and dominate all competition.
