The Adirondack Phantoms had a bad season, that much is obvious, but they did manage to round out their season with a win against the Albany Devils last Sunday. The Phantoms were victorious as they won in a , 4-2 decision.

The Devils’ got on the board in the first, but the Phantoms were able to come back in the second period. Marcel Noebels, Rob Bordson and Blake Kessel all scored goals in the second period to led the team, 3-1 going into the final period.

Kessel scored a second time in the beginning of the third period and the Devils were able to score later in the period, but goaltender Cal Heeter was able to hold them off for the rest of the game.

The win was a great way for the Phantoms to end their season, and now that their AHL season is over four of their players are heading to Philadelphia to help the Flyers will their last few games. Scott Laughton, Tye McGinn, and Matt Konan all returned to the Flyers earlier this week.

Phantoms goal scorer Jason Akeson also joined him. With Akeson’s skill on the ice and his discipline to not take too many penalties it’s about time the Flyers called him up. They really should have done it sooner.

If you missed the past couple of weeks in the Adirondack Phantoms schedule, you did not miss much. In their last five games they have gone 3-2.

In their most recent game they played their home finale with the Springfield Falcons. The Falcons outdid them, 3-2.

Phantoms Newcomer Mark Alt got the first goal for the Phantoms to tie it up in the second period and Rob Bordson scored a goal in the third period to try to lead the game to a tie so they could finish it off in overtime. Since this is the Phantoms, they could not.

Their efforts and the surge from the whole team did not come to fruition. The Falcons were still able to out do the Phantoms with the lead they gathered in the second period. The loss adds insult to injury for the Phantoms who have struggled all season long.

They will try to come away from the loss on Sunday as they finish off their regular season with an away game against the Albany Devils. The Phantoms and the Devils hate each other so expect their last game to be interesting no matter the outcome.

With the Phantoms’ wash of a season it should come as no surprise that they had no chance of a playoff run for the Calder Cup this year. Which also explains why their NHL affiliate the Phildelphia Flyers also had such a terrible season this year. The Flyers have also been eliminated from their playoffs, so it is clear that the whole organization has issues that need to be corrected before next season.

Last weekend was another disappointment for the Philadelphia Flyers‘ AHL affiliate the Adirondack Phantoms. The team lost all three of their games last weekend, as they continued on their path of destruction.

On Friday they fought really hard to get a win over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, but the “Baby Pens” were able to get one over them with a overtime goal. The Phantoms lost that game 3-2, but at least they got a point.

Their game on Saturday to the Rochester Americans was yet another disappointment. This game was however another close one, and it went to a shootout win. The Americans took the victory in the end with a 5-4 decision.

Then came the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Sunday night. Not only were the Phantoms defeated, yet again, but they met some very unfortunate injuries. Flyers prospect Eric Wellwood fell awkwardly into the boards on the penalty kill and cut his leg badly with his own skate.

He left the ice without a stoppage of play and was rushed to the hospital for surgery. Now he has returned to Philadelphia to see the Flyers team doctor who is supposed to perform additional surgery on his leg. Wellwood is pretty much done for the season as he cut himself badly with his own skate and may have even torn his tendon. But even Wellwood’s injury could not get the team to rally together. They still lost 4-1 on Sunday to the Tigers.

The Phantoms hope to end their three game skid at home on Friday against the Springfield Falcons.
