It appears that the break between their games did not help the Adirondack Phantoms. Last Friday as they took on the Binghamton Senators they fell to a 5-2 decision.

The last time the two teams played, the Phantoms wrecked the Senators, so it is clear that their opponents were seeking out revenge.

The PIMS were average in this game and they were pretty even in shots, the Senators lead 40-39. So these were not the reasons that the Phantoms fell. The Senators just had a better goalie in Nathan Lawson.

Cole Schenider was the star for the Senators by starting the game with two goals in the first period. This definitely gave his teammates Pat Cannone and Mark Borowiecki the confidence they needed score two additional goals.

Jason Akeson, who has been the lead goal scorer for the Phantoms all season, tried to bring momentum to his team with a late period goal in the second.

In the final period, Eric Wellwood banked on the momentum by scoring a second goal for the Phantoms. It wasn’t enough because they were still down by two goals. There was plenty of time left in the period to bring it back, but the Phantoms failed to do so.

Derek Grant sealed the deal for the Senators with one last goal in the third period to lead his team to a 5-2 win.

It seems like every time the Phantoms do well, the next game they play they drop. This is clearly not their year, which is evident by their poor record.

After being routed by the Portland Pirates a few weeks ago, the Adirondack Phantoms were looking to seek revenge in Sunday’s game. They did just that by defeating the Pirates 4-2.

The Phantoms just knew how to find the back of Mark Visentin‘s net, because the Pirates actually led in shots 42-18. The Phantoms’ Cal Heeter really held his own in this game to help lead the team to victory after having faced that many shots.

Tye McGinn got it going in nine seconds of the first period. Yes, nine seconds. McGinn should really be back with the Flyers, because he’s good, but having him in the lineup is definitely a help to the Phantoms.

The rest of the period went scoreless and the majority of the action only occurred in the second period.

The Pirates were on the attack early. Jordan Martinook and Brendan Shinnimin scored within the first five minutes of the second period to get a leg up over the Phantoms.

The Phantoms were quick to tie the game a few minutes later with a power play goal from Jeff Dimmen. The game remained at a tie until much later in the period.

Marcel Noebels was again active for the Phantoms by breaking the tie towards the end of the second period. Eric Wellwood was right behind as he scored the fourth goal that the Phantoms would need to win the game.

The third period went scoreless and the Phantoms took the victory.

That’s two wins in a row for the Phantoms now. I hate to be a “debbie downer” but it’s probably a bit too late in the season for them to make a playoff run. I like to see them continue to win to at least increase their record.

Will they be able to extend their streak to three when they take on the Binghamton Senators on Friday night?

The Adirondack Phantoms may be bringing it back, although it’s a bit late. On Saturday they took on the Connecticut Whale and bested them in a 5-2 decision.

The Phantoms were good in this game by only taking eight penalty minutes and leading in shots 35-24. Which explains how they were able to get five goals over the Whale’s Jason Missiaen.

Although Ryan Bourque got the Whale on board first, Marcel Noebels tied the game up quickly in the first period.

Garrett Roe and Jason Akeson were the stars for the Phantoms in this game.

Danny Syrvet scored early in the second assisted by Akeson and when Roe scored right after, Akeson was again there with the assist.

The Phantoms had a heavy lead in the second which the Whale tried to change by a late period goal from Brandon Segal. They went into the third period with a 3-2 led in hopes to drown out the Whale.

They did.

Akeson came out strong early in the final period with a power play goal assisted by Roe. The two showed that they were a good line pairing a few minutes later when Roe scored another power play goal with Akeson on the assist.

These two were on top of their game to give the Phantoms their 5-2 win.
