So I haven’t really been posting on here, partly out of laziness and partly because I’ve been too busy watching the Kings wreck the Devils and laughing at how much New Jersey has been failing in the Stanley Cup Finals. Even though Richards and Carter are ex-Flyers and we all might still love them, I didn’t think it was appropiate for me to post on the Kings games here, as Broadstreetbuzz is flyers centered. If you’re interested in my recaps check it out on the other blog. My reason for finally posting today, is because well if the Kings win it tonight that means the end of hockey for the summer. I knew there was a reason I liked the fall and winter seasons better, oh right because hockey is always on tv! So with the post season close to an end, where does that leave my beloved flyers as they prepare for the next season and another race for the Cup?

Holmgren spoke about the off season and Pronger to give us a taste of what to expect. Pronger has been an off the ice captain this past season due to his injury, and despite all these press conferences giving us “updates” it appears that his situation remains the same. Basically there is no change in Pronger’s health, and in my opinion this might be his time to go. Not that I don’t love Pronger as a Flyer, but with his health at a stand sill it is more than likely that is career is on it’s way to being over, unfortunately.

Holmgren expects our rookies to work hard this summer and not be forgotten by the other teams next season. We have seen how well rookies Schenn and Couturier have played this past season, so this gives us a hint that perhaps we won’t lose these players to any trades this post season. Just don’t take my point on that at face value.

Mostly what is happening for the organization in the off season is that the management team is having meetings to prepare for the draft that is taking place in Pittsburgh on June 22 & 23. Now all us fans can do is wait and hope we don’t sign another goalie for $51 million for 9 years and get rid of two of our top players.

I just wanted to examine how the teams are playing, and if the Flyers can be close to being at this level next season.
