Once upon a time, seeing the New Jersey Devils on the schedule really bummed me out. From the moment I started watching hockey in 1994, the Devils were more than just a thorn in the Flyers side. They straight up dominated us. If we weren’t winning the division, they were. When we were falling short of winning the Cup, they marched ahead and won it three times. My hate for them equaled the hate Eagles fans have for the Dallas Cowboys. Almost all of my worst hockey memories involve the Devils. I’d rather not recount which ones, most you probably know the events I’m referring to.

So far the series between The Penguins and The Flyers has been extremely intense, but it has also consisted of two solid comeback efforts on the Flyers part which have given them the 2-0 lead. And both of these games were in Pittsburgh. I cannot wait for Sunday’s game when the team is back on home ice. The Flyers are definitely in it to win it.

So I was really hoping to see the Flyers crush the Pens again in another Playoffs first round series preview, but sadly that did not happen. But that’s okay, that last game didn’t really matter. What will matter is how the Flyers play come Wednesday night in the first game of the series between the two PA teams. I was just hoping to not be saddled with the Pens, I would rather have some other team knock them out for the Flyers. One can only dream, eh?
