The Adirondack Phantoms had a bad season, that much is obvious, but they did manage to round out their season with a win against the Albany Devils last Sunday. The Phantoms were victorious as they won in a , 4-2 decision.

The Devils’ got on the board in the first, but the Phantoms were able to come back in the second period. Marcel Noebels, Rob Bordson and Blake Kessel all scored goals in the second period to led the team, 3-1 going into the final period.

Kessel scored a second time in the beginning of the third period and the Devils were able to score later in the period, but goaltender Cal Heeter was able to hold them off for the rest of the game.

The win was a great way for the Phantoms to end their season, and now that their AHL season is over four of their players are heading to Philadelphia to help the Flyers will their last few games. Scott Laughton, Tye McGinn, and Matt Konan all returned to the Flyers earlier this week.

Phantoms goal scorer Jason Akeson also joined him. With Akeson’s skill on the ice and his discipline to not take too many penalties it’s about time the Flyers called him up. They really should have done it sooner.

With losing Tye McGinn, again, to the Flyers, the Phantoms were losing a key play maker as they went into a game against the Connecticut Whale last Wednesday. They fought to the very end only to lose 6-5 in overtime. The Whale started out early with a goal from Brandon Mashinter. The Phantoms tied the game up later in the first period on the power play with a goal from Danny Syvret. They looked like they could come back, but then the Whale took the lead late in the first on a power play goal from Brandon Segal.

In the second period, the Whale continued their reign of terror on Brian Boucher‘s net by scoring three goals in the period. Goal scorers were Jason Wilson, Kelsey Tessier and Micheal Haley (on the PP). With the 5-1 lead things were looking really bad for the Phantoms, but Harry Zolnierczyk managed a power play goal at the end of the period to try to get his team back in the game.

In the third period, the Phantoms got into gear by scoring three more goals to tie it up and go to an overtime period. They looked like a different team thanks to goals from Rob Bordson, Jason Akeson and Marcel Noebels.

While it was an impressive comeback, unfortunately they were outdone by the Whale in overtime when Brandon Segal sniped a goal past Boucher to win the game 6-5 for Connecticut.

The Phantoms are having an off season, especially since they have lost a few players to the NHL. Friday’s game against the Devils was no different as the Devils beat the Phantoms 4-3.

Matt Anderson got the Devils on the board early in the first period, but Jason Akeson tied it up later in the period on the power play. Marcel Noebels broke that tie for the Phantoms a few minutes later.

No one scored for the rest of the period, but it wouldn’t be a Phantoms-Devils game without a fight. Chris McKelvie and Cullen Eddy both got five minutes for fighting at the end of the first.

Before anyone scored in the second, Eddy and Mckelvie were duking it out again, but the Devils dominated the game in the period. Harri Pesonen and Joe Whitney both scored for the Devils. After Whitney’s goal another fight broke out this time between Oliver Lauridsen and Darcy Zajac.

Whitney scored again late in the period to give the Devils the lead. Tye McGinn got the Phantoms on the board again, by logging the only goal for the team in the last period. Despite his efforts, it wasn’t enough for the Phantoms, as the Devils were led to victory 4-3.
