With The NHL trade deadline less than a week away. We take a look at the Philadelphia Flyers goaltenders heading into this year’s trade deadline.

Both Steve Mason and Michal Neuvirth are set to become unrestricted free agents this off-season

Neither of the two Flyers goalies have stepped up forcing themselves into General Manager Ron Hextall future plans.

Michal Neuvirth has been the guy of late starting in nine (expected to start the Heritage Classic) of the Flyers last 10 games in January. Neuvirth has a 0.894 SV% in Febuary not exactly glamourous numbers.

The 28-year-old has shown the ability to get on extreme hot streaks stealing games left and right. “Neuvy” hasn’t played more than 50 games in a season. In his 11 year career playing 223 games, averaging 20 games a season. Considering Neuvirth’s injury history and ability to get hot. Neuvirth is a perfect backup goaltender.

Season Stats: 2.84 GAA .888 SV%

Steve Mason ,who hasn’t seen the ice since February 9th was the expected starter when the season opened has played in 42 games this season. Since arriving in Philadelphia, Mason has played over 50 games each year. The 28-year-old has struggled this season, both goalies have so why has Mason played just once in the last 10 games?  Is General Manager Ron Hextall showcasing Neuvith? Are the Flyers seeing if Neuvirth can be the guy handling a bigger workload?

 Will General Manager Ron Hextall complete a deal gaining an asset for one of his veteran goaltenders?

Creating room for Anthony Stolarz, who has impressed in his short NHL stint this season, posting a 1.79 GAA, .938 SV% in four games. The 23-year-old  Stolarz is positioning himself for a larger role in net.
