Philadelphia Flyers Draft: Top Options at 7th Overall

The Flyers have quite a few options to mull over before the draft next week. With the top 5 picks pretty much a lock, there a some different scenarios Philadelphia could face when they are put on the clock. When looking over the prospects that could be available at #7, you notice the Flyers need to decide whether they will draft the best overall player available, or the best player at their top need.

Just to review the Flyers’ needs, they definitely need a skilled scoring winger. They really need a winger that has a dominant offensive presence on the ice. Philadelphia also needs a star defenseman. They have a few coming up the pipeline that look like they could eventually be great defensemen, like Travis Sanheim and Sam Morin. Yet, they still have a void on the NHL roster in terms of having a bonafide number-one defenseman right now.

The Flyers could fill either of those roles with their 7th overall selection in this year’s draft, just which one they deem more important is the key.
