The Philadelphia Flyers need to win Wednesday’s night game against the Washington Capitals.
There is no doubt that having a win would be a good way for the Philadelphia Flyers to go into the All-Star Game. They had been showing their vulnerable side and put another loss in the column. It obvious that the Flyers want to leave the break with a good record. They’re still eight points out in the wildcard race and they need all the points they can get to show they’re serious about making the playoffs. It’s still going to be an uphill battle but having a win over one of the best teams in the league would be a huge boost for them in the both morale and standings. Philadelphia Flyers Play Big Game Against Capitals
Travis Hughes for Broad Street Hockey
"The Flyers have lost three straight games, and heading into the 2016 All-Star Break on a four-game losing streak would be pretty terrible. Luckily, their opponent on Wednesday night, the final game before that break is … oh, the best team in hockey? Well, crap. The Washington Capitals are really, really good … leading the Eastern Conference buy a whopping ten points with three games in hand. They’re one of the league’s deepest teams up front, solid enough to get the job done on defense, strong on special teams and elite in goal. They’ve only lost four games at home all season, going 18-3-1 at Verizon Center so far."

"Prior to the team taking the ice for the morning skate, Flyers GM Ron Hextall announced that forward Sean Couturier and goaltender Steve Mason will be out of the lineup with a lower-body injury. This is the third consecutive game that Couturier will miss, and the ninth game of the season overall that will keep him out due to injury. The Flyers have a 1-5-2 record when Couturier is not in the lineup. Couturier has 22 points (9g-13) in 38 games this season, his fifth in the NHL."
Why Did the Flyers recall Jason LaBarbera?
Travis Hughes for Broad Street Hockey
"Jason LaBarbera has been recalled by the Philadelphia Flyers. He’ll be the backup goaltender when the team travels to Washington, D.C. to take on the Capitals tonight. The recall is due to an injury to goaltender Steve Mason, who the team says is day-to-day with a lower-body injury. That means Michal Neuvirth will get the start against the Caps, his former team, on Wednesday. You might be asking yourself: why call up LaBarbera instead of AHL All-Star Anthony Stolarz?"
