The Philadelphia Flyers need to come back from two weekend losses.

February started off to be a good month for the Philadelphia Flyers. They had two wins and were looking for two more against the New York Rangers and Washington Capitals. Yet both of those ended as losses for the team and it looked as if the Flyers were falling down a very similar slope. Points are very important as the season begins to wind down and it’ll eventually come down to a few crucial games that make or break the Philadelphia Flyers season. There is a lot hinging on how the rest of the month ends up for the team and with key players out, it will be more of an uphill battle than the team expected. Catch up on notes for Tuesday night’s game against the Anaheim Ducks and 50th anniversary news on today’s edition of Buzz on the Street.

"Nick Cousins was effective Sunday in replacing Sean Couturier. Although Cousins doesn’t have Couturier’s defensive capabilities just yet, he’s been working on the shutdown role in the American Hockey League this season. “I’m not trying to get ahead of myself here,” said Cousins, the Flyers’ third-round pick in 2011. “I’m just trying to show the coaching staff what I can do and when they have me on the ice to trust me. That’s what I’m trying to do these first two games. I feel good out there and like if I’m playing with a little bit of confidence that’s when I’m at my best. It’s only two games, but I’m just trying to get my feet wet here and play the best I can to help guys out.”"

"When Lou Scheinfeld thinks back 50 years ago when it was announced that Philadelphia would get an NHL franchise, he recalls how little fanfare ensued. “It was a non-event here in Philadelphia,” said the 80-year-old resident of Radnor, and former reporter, who would become the Flyers’ first vice president of business operations."

"They last met right before the All-Star break and the Flyers pulled off a 4-3 overtime win on a Jakub Voracek spin-o-rama goal. This one didn’t carry the same excitement, as play was spotty and sloppy on both sides, the result no doubt of both teams playing in a shootout the day before."
