As everyone anxiously waits for the season to start, the writers at Broad Street Buzz thought it would be a good idea to predict the Flyers record over the course of each month. I mean, there really isn’t other ways to kill time until the season starts, right?
Total Games: 14 Games
Home Games: 6
Away Games: 8
Last season for November: 4-8-1 (4-3-0 Home) (0-5-1 Road)
Key Games:
- November 2nd– This starts a mini west coast tour for the Flyers and will see them play 3 games over 4 days.
- November 3rd– This is the first time the Flyers will face this year’s first overall draft pick, Connor Mcdavid. It should be a fun game to watch.
- November 27th-This day after Thanksgiving game will feature ex-Flyers head coach Peter Laviolette returning to Philadelphia.
- November 28th-The Flyers take on one of their Rivals, the New York Rangers in this Saturday afternoon game.
*Let’s take a quick look at the Philadelphia Flyers November Schedule with my projected record:
- Mon. 11/2/2015 Philadelphia Vancouver 10:00 PM-Win
- Tue. 11/3/2015 Philadelphia Edmonton 9:00 PM-Win
- Thu. 11/5/2015 Philadelphia Calgary 9:00 PM-Loss
- Sat. 11/7/2015 Philadelphia Winnipeg 7:00 PM-Loss (OT)

- Thu. 11/19/2015 San Jose Philadelphia 7:00 PM-Win

- Mon. 11/23/2015 Carolina Philadelphia 7:00 PM-Win
- Wed. 11/25/2015 Philadelphia N.Y. Islanders 7:00 PM-Loss
- Fri. 11/27/2015 Nashville Philadelphia 3:00 PM-Loss
- Sat. 11/28/2015 Philadelphia N.Y. Rangers 1:00 PM-Loss
When looking at the Flyers November schedule, it becomes very apparent that they have a pretty tough road ahead of them. Six out of the 14 teams they play in November were playoff teams as of last year. Not to mention, some teams have made considerable upgrades since then.
The month of November starts off with a mini west coast road trip that sends the Flyers to Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, and Winnipeg. This road trip will definitely test the Flyers early, due to the fact that it is against 3 playoff teams and it occurs so early in the season.

We will then see the Flyers return home to play 5 out of 7 of their games at the Wells Fargo arena. This will be a nice change for the Flyers and will allow them to have the home atmosphere backing them.
The middle portion of the Flyers November schedule isn’t too bad considering they play some fringe playoff teams such as Carolina, San Jose, and Colorado. This is also the part that worries me due to the fact that the Flyers notoriously struggle against sub-par teams.
Around Thanksgiving is when the November schedule gets tough. It is the final three games of November that will really test the Flyers. The Islanders have gotten substantially better and have always been a threat to the Flyers. Nashville was very tough to contain last year with their high scoring offense and Rinne having a Vezina type year.

Next the Flyers have the Rangers, who they struggle so mightily against, especially at MSG. Recent trends and track records do not support the Flyers winning at MSG. Even though the Rangers most certainly regressed, there is just something about playing the Rangers that almost always disrupts the Flyers.
I gave the Flyers what I believe could be a generous record. Especially since last year, the Flyers went 0-5-1 on the road in the month of November. The month of November is just filled with tough teams that reached the playoffs last year and many of the other teams have made quite a bit of upgrades.
I am incredibly excited to see Dave Hakstol’s system and how he incorporates it with the Flyers roster. Especially in regards to having more mobile defensemen that pinch in the offensive zone to keep the play alive. If the Flyers can adapt and accept Hakstol’s system, there’s no reason as to why the Flyers can’t have a better record in October or November.
This season for November: 6-7-1
Overall as of this point (Including Gus’ piece):11-11-2
