Philadelphia Flyers Play Without Key Players
The playoffs are closing in for the Philadelphia Flyers.
Playoff time is around the corner. The Philadelphia Flyers are making their final push to avoid ending their season just short of their goals. An overtime win is two points that the Flyers needed and it put them only six points back of the leading Detroit Red Wings. The team has five more games in the month of February and with 10 potential points on the line, it would be a wonderful thing for the team to at least win three games. It would give them six points and hopefully boost them into the postseason and a chance at the Stanley Cup. While it is a long shot, the Flyers aren’t down and out quite yet. However, their roster has taken a bit of a hit and they need to have their stars available to play. Without them, they might not be able to make the playoffs. See if any of the injured are making a return in Monday’s edition of Buzz on the Street.
Claude Giroux Out Against Carolina
Sam Carchidi for Philadelphia Inquirer
For the Flyers, the medical news was mixed Monday. Captain Claude Giroux was unable to practice and will not play in Tuesday’s key game in Carolina. But second-line center Sean Couturier said he felt ready to return to the lineup. Couturier has missed the last nine games with an injured right foot/ankle. Monday marked his first practice with the team since he was sidelined.Live Feed class=inline-text id=inline-text-5

Sean Couturier Hoping To Return Tuesday
Brian Smith for Philadelphia Flyers.com
Perhaps the best thing about Claude Giroux remaining out of the Flyers’ lineup for Tuesday’s game in Carolina is that Sean Couturier might be making his return, a week ahead of schedule. Or perhaps the worst thing about Couturier coming back is that now Giroux is out. Glass half-full or glass half-empty. Regardless, it’s just another day at the office for the Flyers as a group. They have been a resilient team all year, rolling with various punches – whether it’s the temporary loss of a goaltender, the long-term loss of Mark Streit back in the fall, or Sunday’s news that Michael Del Zotto will not return this season due to impending wrist surgery.
Philadelphia Flyers Must Be Versatile On Ice
Dave Issac for Courier Post
Michael Raffl is a natural centerman. So is Brayden Schenn. And Sam Gagner. All have been on one wing or another for the Flyers for most of this season. Being able to play all three positions, however, is a requirement. “I shouldn’t care (where I play) and honestly I don’t really care,” Raffl said. “It is what it is. I do whatever I’m told to do. That’s my role, so I’ll accept it.”
