The Philadelphia Flyers are hoping that they have time left to make the playoffs.

It’s not easy to pull yourself out of a hole, especially when you’re the Philadelphia Flyers. The team was on a road trip and needed to have a winning streak to earn back some points. Currently, the Flyers sit eight points back of the leader Detroit Red Wings and it will be tough to make up those points quickly. The Flyers have been dealing with injuries and while the team as been trying to make up for the lack of bodies, it’s still going to come down to a few games that decide the season. Flyers head coach Dave Hakstol is working on keeping his players focused but if the team is going to try, they’ll need to keep mistakes at bay. Flyers Season Determined in Upcoming Games

Justin Cuthbert for The Score

Expect some fire under the bellies of the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday. Jakub Voracek didn’t leave room for interpretation when describing the importance of the six-game homestand the Flyers will navigate over the next 11 days. “We’ve got to make at least 10 points out of these next six games,” he said, according to NHL.com’s Adam Kimelman. “This is going to define if we’re going to make the playoffs or not; this homestand.”

Flyers Won’t Add Personnel By Trade Deadline

Tom Dougherty for Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia

With the NHL trade deadline five days away, the Flyers‘ game plan hasn’t changed much. Even with the orange and black sitting five points out of the second wild card. “We’re not going to add,” general manager Ron Hextall told Comcast SportsNet’s John Boruk in a 1-on-1 interview Wednesday afternoon. “We feel like we have depth, quite honestly. “I feel like we have a couple guys up in Lehigh Valley that can help us, so we feel that we have enough depth right now to make it through the year.”

  • Scott Laughton Feels Comfortable at Left Wing

    Sam Carchidi for Philadelphia Inquirer

After struggling to make an impact at center, Scott Laughton may have found a home at his new position, left wing. A center in juniors and the AHL and NHL levels, Laughton has four points since being shifted to left wing three games ago. “Three games in a row he’s been a good player. He’s made an impact each night,” coach Dave Hakstol said after perhaps Laughton’s best NHL performance, a dominating effort in Tuesday’s frustrating 3-1 loss in Carolina. “He’s generated opportunities with some of his speed, his tenacity. He looks like a confident player out there.”
